treat yo' self!

God, I love that GIF. Today is my 'Treat Yo Self' day. I took the day off of work to relax, do some cleaning, read, and laze about. It's been awesome so far. It's only 3pm and I've already taken my to do list from 120 to 60. Not half bad =)

I'm ridiculously happy to be back in San Francisco. I love the weather and the people and my apartment. I feel so warm and cozy. I'm not 100% looking forward to going back to work, but I have a lot to do and some really exciting projects coming down the pipeline, so I suppose I will have to grin and bear it. I feel like I'm in a really good place right now. I'm just calm and not worrying about all the things I usually worry about. I have two of my favorite sorority sisters visiting on Friday and I can't wait to show them around the city I adore.

I feel like lots of good things are going to happen soon. Happiness! =) Now it's back to Pretty Little Liars and white wine. Don't forget to have your own Treat Yo Self day!

inspiration, perspiration, desperation.

These three themes have taken over my life recently and it's become seriously overwhelming. If I hadn't already had my period, I'd be convinced I was PMSing. Instead, I think I'm just having a crossroads moment. Going to the 20SB Summit stirred up a lot of emotions for me and has really challenged me to think about things. That, plus the craziness going on at my job and my personal life has me freaking out.

Inspiration. Going to the summit and meeting successful bloggers really made me want to get serious about my writing. I guess it wasn't even just limited to my blogging, but more to what I want to do with my life. I'm fairly happy with the current state of my job, but sometimes I wonder if I'm really doing what I'm meant to be doing. I think I'm getting closer and closer to finding the solution, but I'm not sure I'm 100% there yet. I know that I want to do something that ties together my planning skills, creativity, and desire not to have a normal desk job. I'd also like to have social media and tech be a part of it. So I'm working on that. I was also inspired this part Monday after attending a workshop for FemSexComm, a workshop on female sexuality that's getting started in San Francisco. I miss the sex-positive world and exploring issues of sex and sexuality. I think I want that to be part of my work, but obvs that ain't happening at my current job. So I'm thinking about potential side ventures to get me immersed in that world. More to come on that.

Perspiration. I am really working hard right now. After weeks of slacking, I'm picking it back up and hitting the ground running. I have two huge events coming up in September and I'm managing another major project for my manager, so I am really feeling stretched thin. I like it - it's enjoyable work and it feels good to be busy, but I just really want a weekend to myself, in my own apartment. It doesn't look like that's going to happen for a good, long while.

Desperation. I am so confused as to what the hell is going on with me and POP. I feel like his interest is waning or something is changing and I'm not sure what it is. I'm also tired, stressed, over-worked, and over-traveled, so I don't have as much time as I would like. I just wonder if he's busy or if I'm reading him wrong. I mean, we're supposed to hang out tonight, so I think things are okay, but I'm just desperate to know where we stand. It's not like I need any concrete "I wanna be your boyfriend" statements. But, I really would like to know how he's feeling about me and what's going on between the two of us. It's frustrating and makes me want to just hide in my room alone. Dating is just never an easy thing to do, is it? Constant struggle and back-and-forth. Oh, well. We'll see how tonight goes and what happens. I'm not terribly optimistic, though.

regularly scheduled programming.

My mom left this morning at 6am and now I'm all by my lonesome, trying to get back into the swing of things. I have a ton of work to do so I don't lose my job, but luckily my apartment is pretty clean and neat and homey, so I don't have to worry about that. I didn't do much today - had lunch with MB at our fave spot and then shopped the Mad Men collection at Banana Republic. I bought a cute skirt and a hat, even though I should not spend any more money for the next 6 months based on all the shit I've bought in the past week.

I'm happy to have my apartment to myself - it's nice to be able to do what I want, when I want, to make lists and try to be productive. All of San Francisco is at Outside Lands, so there really isn't any pressure to be social, either. I miss seeing POP, but we've made tentative plans for this week since I'll be away over the weekend. I really like having a boy sleep in my bed and having him live a 10 minute walk away means he always says yes when I ask him to stay. I'll be happy to see my friends again! Going to a brunch tomorrow at Girl Roomie's place (which I haven't seen yet) and it'll be nice to see people who aren't family members!

I'm exhausted right now, so this is a different entry than the one I wanted to write (stay tuned, my next entry will be about the top things a man can do to/for me in bed to really make me want to jump him), but it's the best I can do. I'm feeling a lot more creative lately and have some interesting writing plans in the pipeline. Tonight, though, it's all about catching up on television and resetting my phone! Super interesting, I know!

whirlwind week.

Things are super crazy this week - I didn't even expect it to be, but I guess I have a lot planned. I'm cooking tonight, so that means I have to get home early, clean my apartment, and get ready for book club. I feel like I've been slacking on being black, so I RSVP'd for a happy hour tomorrow night with the girls from the black meetup group I'm a part of. I will make black friends in SF, damnit! Thursday night, drinks with a friend, and then Friday is the Giants game. Hopefully, Saturday (or Friday after the game), I can hang out with POP. Although, with all of this stuff going on, I don't know if I'll have time to be properly ready by then. He sent me the sweetest set of texts last night. Apparently, he's pretty smitten with me and thinks I'm awesome. Luckily, I'm actually returning the feelings this time. I can't wait to see him on Thursday for our little work date. And, no, I don't think a work date is weird! Given his work schedule and my social schedule, it's nice to have the option to spend some time together during the workday.

I have my doctor's appointment tomorrow, too. Hopefully I can figure out what's wrong with me. In good news, my body fat percentage has gone down, so at least something I'm doing is working! Now, my trainer wants me to come in and do cardio a few days a week, so I'll be upping my workouts for sure. Let's just hope that I stop sleeping inappropriately and get my energy back.

Then, on Sunday morning, my mother arrives. I don't know if I'm prepared for this invasion. One day, when I'm rich and famous from writing a novel about my mother, you all will understand the sheer craziness that this woman brings with her wherever she goes. I love her to death and think she is one of the most dynamic, interesting people I've ever met (I'm sure I can credit my weirdness to her), but she is a nut. I need to have a plan in place for our activities by this Saturday.

So much to do! Luckily, I'm still in a happy place, so maybe that'll make this all go by faster!

livin' the vida without the loca.

I went to sleep at 8:45pm PT last night. What in the holy hell?! Since when am I a senior citizen?! I don't know what is up with me, but I cannot seem to stay awake to save my life. I'm not going to lie, it felt really good to get a full 10 hours of sleep. Especially since it was a conscious choice. I didn't just fall asleep - I took my contacts out, put my PJs on and got in bed while the sun was still up!

I'm praying today goes by quickly. I have my training session this afternoon at 4pm - we're working on legs, so I'm pretty sure I'm going to be sore like a mofo afterwards. Then I have an 8pm date with POP. I'm super excited about this because he was proactive about the rescheduling - I didn't have to text him or anything! He set everything up, so I'm pretty sure that means he's into things between us so far. He also hasn't logged on to OKCupid in 12 days (hollaa!!!) so that's another good sign. Of course, this is the big third date - you know what that means. Chemistry will be tested. Not that I plan on getting naked or anything, but I feel like some kind of non-platonic move needs to happen so we know where this is going moving forward. I'm super nervous - do I even remember how to be physical with a guy? I guess I'll find out tonight!

Other than that, I have a pretty packed weekend - finally grabbing drinks with a friend in town for the summer, double-header Yankees games on Saturday, party on Saturday night, and then brunch at a hot new SF restaurant with my co-workers on Sunday morning. Maybe I'm sleeping like a granny in preparation for the rest of the week!

i should not drink wine on an empty stomach.

I am sitting in my parents' kitchen, watching our cat sniff the floor, and drinking wine. Unfortunately, two glasses of wine has me completely buzzing - I'm not even joking, it feels like everything is buzzing and humming. I probably should've eaten a real dinner.

Anyway! I've been MIA this past week, really doing a lot of nothing. I've been working from the NYC office, bothering my friends there and occasionally poking my head into the office of my new team. It's been nice being in New York and I still have two more days of vacation left this weekend. We got today off for the 4th and then we get tomorrow off as well. I'm taking Wednesday as a comp day, so I'm heading to the beach and a soccer game with Slindy. I'm excited! I miss hanging out with the NYC crew. Hanging out with my family has been fun and College BFF made a visit to my house this weekend, so it's been really great to see her and hang out. I love that I can have her stay here for days and it's so relaxing. We don't even really have to do anything. Pure friendship.

I feel a lot better about the Blexican thing and I'm trying to move on. I've actually been chatting with a nice guy from OK Cupid, who I seem to have a decent amount in common with. We're both the same age, he went to school in NYC so he's familiar with my favorite places, and he's Jewish, so we talk about Jewish food and culture (yes, I'm aware I'm not Jewish, but I like to think I can get some kind of honorary status). I also love that he's an engineer at my company - I think the product he works on is sexy, so that's another huge plus. He seems like good people, but I don't know what will happen. We also live scary close to each other. I just sent him what may have been the longest online dating message in history, but I'm hoping that doesn't scare him off. I mean, any man who wants to date me needs to know that I can TALK. I can talk to a brick wall, a cat, a potted plant - once I get going I don't stop and I don't need anyone to talk back. So, I'm hoping that didn't deter him and I'm really praying that he asks me out this week when I'm back in SF, so we can see if there's any real spark. So far, so good, though. I needed the distraction.

Anyhow, I'm going to try and eat a bunch of BBQ to make the word stop humming. Hope all the Americans are enjoying the 4th of July weekend!

so many emotions.

I've got wayyy too much going on up here in my brain so this is going to be messy. It's just been way too much to process. First of all, there's the whole Blexican thing, which took me on a roller coaster of emotions. I've also been thinking about new guys and the online dating scene, my feelings about being back on Long Island for two weeks, and I just realized I never wrote about my event. I've really been slacking lately - mostly due to jet lag, combined with extreme sleep deprivation and too much alcohol.

Anyway, I'm only going to spend so much time on The Blexican because it is so over. On to the next. I even defriended him on Facebook. Way harsh? I don't know - I just don't want to see all of his status updates and since he's definitely the type to throw up a million photos of a girl he's dating (there are a ton of me on his profile), I figured it was a good pre-emptive strike. I think I scared the shit out of my BFF because I sent her this horrible 'woe is me - I hate everything and only you know what I'm going through' email. She then called me (it was like 2am her time) because she was panicked about my mental well-being. And that is why she's my best friend. I talked it out with her today. It's not that I want him (I don't). It's that I want all those things he gave me and now I can't even get them in a minor capacity. I want someone to be super sweet to me and tell me I'm beautiful and just love me unconditionally for the crazy, effed up psychopath that I am. I'm moving on, though. More on that when I actually have something substantial to say. He is now dead and gone to me - headed to the metaphorical graveyard of exes that I keep in my mind.

Let's talk about work. OMG, I have never been so happy at work before. I'm finally fitting in socially (thank GOD - I was having awkwardness with one of my co-workers and then we just got shitfaced one weekend and problem solved!) and there are lots of fun new people to get to know. My event was last week and I rocked it. Seriously, my boss sent me this amazing email about how proud she was of me and how glad she is that I made the switch to events. SO AM I. I learned that I'm pretty tough, have no problems telling people no, and I have a really razor-sharp memory for names and faces and details that should serve me well in the future. Slowly, but surely, I am moving on the right track.

Life is pretty good.

things are going shockingly smoothly...

... which is why I'm blogging at 10:20pm instead of furiously working. I actually feel like the event is going to be okay and that I'm going to live through it and it won't be so awful ::knocks on a huge piece of wood:: I'm even getting to enjoy my room at the W, with the beautiful view of the Bay Bridge and the city. God, I love San Francisco so much sometimes. I'm feeling like I'm in a really good place right now and things are going very well. I don't have everything I want, but I have most of it and I'm just happy to be here right now. I'm falling more and more in love with my job, my city, and my life by the day. I really love these big events and how awesome it is to watch them come together. I'm so glad I pursued this career - while frustrating at times, I really do love it and it's teaching me a lot. Now, here's hoping I can get 8 hours of sleep tonight!

i am always scrambling last minute!

Tomorrow kicks off my big event - the thing I've been working on for SIX MONTHS. I am so nervous and there is so much to do. My sorority sister ML is coming to visit on Thursday after the event is over so I have to clean. I'm also trying this new treatment on my hair and my bras are breaking so I have to go and buy new ones. I also stupidly make both brunch and evening drinks plans and need to go into my office to do some work. Why oh why do I procrastinate?

Anyway, I will basically be MIA for the next couple of days, working the event and praying that everything goes smoothly. This is my first big event, so I'm praying everything goes well and that I can impress my manager! After it's all over, I'll get to play in New York for two weeks. Cannot. Wait.

random thoughts on a thursday night.

Life is such a funny, crazy, busy thing. I've been having all these intense feelings and thoughts lately, while I scramble to get my life together. I think I've started to careen out of control lately with how much I'm doing and what I want to accomplish. I'm trying to take a step back and evaluate what's going on with me and how I'm going to pull myself out of this chaos.

I'm hoping to get a handle this weekend, even though I have already made some plans. My apartment is starting to look like Grey Gardens. I'm not even joking - they could film an episode of Hoarders in here. I need to get on that stat before (1) I get some sort of infestation or (2) I trip, fall, break my neck and my body is left to rot for weeks. Yeahhh, cleaning! Woo hoo!

I tried taking this Energy Management class at work and it sucked like whoa. A complete waste of time and I got nothing out of it. I'm still searching for the perfect time/energy management solution - some kind of way to compartmentalize my life so that I can include every little thing I want to get done - work, reading, time with friends, writing, blogging. I have so many interests and just not enough time to explore them all.

I'm starting to get disgusted with my body. I need to start working out and stop shoveling crappy food down my throat... says the girl who's planning to go to Butter tomorrow night and eat mozzie sticks and deep fried twinkies. Jaykay on the twinkies - that's gross, but yes to fried cheese! I just don't know how I've let myself go so quickly. Normally I'm on this and I'm really good at maintaining my weight.

Yoga is becoming something I'm interested in trying. My therapist and I were talking about how I don't have any hobbies and maybe I need to get some. I mean, watching Mob Wives and Real Housewives is not a legit hobby. Yoga seems like it could center me and make me more limber. Perfect mind-body connection that my hippie-tendency self would love.

Anyway, it is time for this girl to watch Criminal Minds and sleep. More tomorrow, promise!

wow, i'm sucking at blogging. let me rectify that...

Hi friends! I've been away in the land of the great beyond... also known as a major event. Since I last posted (over a week ago, whoops!), a lot has gone down. First of all, I was super lazy last Saturday and did nothing but eat Mexican and watch Mad Men with MB. I also went to the sari shop in Berkeley THREE TIMES (no easy feat from my apartment in NoPa) to get saris for the wedding I attended this past weekend. It was a shitshow and in the end, they still didn't fit right and the woman at the store told me my boobs were too big. RAWR. Then I went to Alcatraz with The Blexican for a night tour. I totally recommend doing this - it's awesome. I want to go back like a million times.

This past week, we had a HUGE developer conference in SF that was my first big event! I was in charge of all the fun, snazzy stuff we gave away. It was a ton of manual labor and after 3 days of standing on my feet, I was exhausted each and every night. I looked a hot mess by the end. I did get to spend some time meeting a super sweet engineer who was cute and friendly and adorbz, though. That was nice! I also got to see how a massive event is executed. Also, I found out that I love my Chicago/Boulder teammates and they are the best ever. Wish they sat in SF. We went out and got drinks every night after the conference and it was great bonding time and I feel a little bit better about my place on the team.

Then, this weekend was the wedding! Indian wedding in Milwaukee. I loved every second of it. From the outfits, to the music, to the couple, to all of their friends and family, I had an amazing time. I will blog more about it this week! I loved my sari and I think I looked pretty cute. It was a great weekend spent meeting lots of new people and getting to learn more about a new culture. That's pretty much my ideal weekend. In related news, I must STOP giving my phone number out to boys. Also must stop talking to men I'm not interested in. I didn't realize that an hour-long convo with a guy will make him think you want to be with him. This is not how I operate. I'm a talker. I could talk to anyone on the planet (really, I can). Conversation doesn't mean much to me. I will talk to a potted plant or a kitten for hours. I just like the sound of my own voice and the art of conversing. So um yeah, life lessons learned from this wedding.

Anyhow, this week, I have a bunch of stuff to chat about. The wedding. My relationship with The Blexican. My horrible body image issues. I promise to more than make up for my radio silence =)

whirlwind

Good Lord - life is crazy right now and so of course, I'm procrastinating like whoa. I finally got my saris for L&S' wedding this weekend. I also went on the Alcatraz night tour with the Blexican. I bought a tin cup and a kick ass sign that reads, "You are entitled to food, clothing, shelter, and medical attention. Anything else that you get is a privilege." I plan on hanging a copy of this in each of my children's bedrooms - haha. Just kidding (but not really)! I should be packing, as I'm spending the next three days, two nights at a hotel in downtown SF for the big developer conference. I don't know how I'm going to survive this week, but I can say that next week is going to be full of cleaning, laundry, and being anti-social. Life is hitting me a little too hard right now. I think I'll get to breathe at the end of June, once the big sales conference is out of the way - thank God. I'm going a little bit insane.

I have this whole post on body image all geared up (I've been having major issues with my body recently) and I'd love to update on what the deal is with me and Blexican, but I'm really freaking tired. So hopefully, before I leave for Milwaukee Indian wedding weekend, I'll be able to at least get those two things up. Anyway, hope you all had fabulous weekends!

derailed.

I have let this trip to DC completely derail me. I haven't been blogging or reading any blogs, plus I went to bed at 9:30pm and 7:30pm over the past two days - WTF is wrong with me?! I would try to get out of work early today, but we have a team drinking event tonight. As much as I want to bond with the team and get my drink on, I really would prefer bonding with my DVR and bed, but I suppose I have to go.

Recapping my life this week - the event was great! It was a huge success - great turnout, my furniture and decor looked great and everyone loved the swag! I really enjoyed it and I had a great time. I feel like an honest to God event planner now. Just in time because next week is the big developer conference and I'm helping manage our giveaways! Hopefully I'll get to meet some hotties because I'm totally boy obsessed right now. I think I've finally rediscovered my flirting mojo and want to get back in the game, even if I'm not feeling as attractive as I normally do. I miss boys and flirting and having a good time. It was nice to spend some time in VA with my single girlfriends - it reminded me of how much I need those relationships and miss them out here in SF.

So, gentlemen of San Francisco (or any other city I happen to blow through), I am 100% available, ready to charm you with my sarcastic wit, and willing to do things that are illegal in most southern states. Game on =)

waiting to exhale.

Life has gotten really busy all of a sudden. I'm really looking forward to having a chance to breathe. Although, in my line of work, I don't know if that's really realistic. I probably won't get to breathe until October. This week has completely worn me down. Between Vegas, late night Chappelle, and early mornings at the office, I'm dog tired. This is my only free weekend in a while, so I'm going to try and make the most of it. I wanted to hit up Berkeley to get a sari for L&S' wedding, but the thought of hoofing it all the way out to Berkeley during the one weekend I'm not traveling does not sound like a good time. I'll table that shit for another time.

As I think I mentioned before, immediately after the breakup, I put my online profile back up. I got a message from a guy that looks decent - black, educated, attractive - but I'm too tired to even think about writing a message back. I also kind of agree with Pink Hibiscus that I really need to chill out, enjoy my life, and not springboard onto the next man I see, but to focus on me for a bit. Sound advice (thanks, love!) that I am going to take. See, I take advice... sometimes ;-)

Work is also heating up. My event is in 1.5 weeks and I'm panicking! I'm excited and nervous and behind and crazed. It's insanity, really it is. I'm faithful it'll all go off well, though. I know that I'm more than capable and I also have so much support that shit will get done. It always does because it has to.

I want to focus a little more on my writing. I'm trying to think of topics that I want to delve into over the next few weeks. Deep shit, in addition to the normal twists and turns of my life. I'm also having these existential debates in my head. I'd really like to get some of them out into the world. Stay tuned.

i haven't posted in a week. i suck...

Apologies for my ridiculous lack of posting. I don't know what's come over me. Last week was a little crazy and I just fucked up with taking time to write. BUT, I have all my entries for this week planned out, and I'm looking forward to getting back into the introspective writing game. You can look forward to posts about my brand new IUD, recent relationship revelations (yeah, alliteration!!!!), and my new Five Year Plan.

So what kept me away last week?

  • Events Team Offsite: Ummm, these events kids know how to throw a fucking party. I am super impressed with everything that happened at the offsite. It was creative, fun, and involved tons of free alcohol. I am so afraid that I am not cool enough to have the job I do.
  • NYC in SF: My work girlies from my old team were here and we had a ton of fun hanging out and being dorky. Highlights definitely include karaoke-ing into the wee hours of the morning. I did a rendition of I'm On A Boat that was fucking amazing. I think that's my new go to karaoke tune.
  • Bieber Fever: Okay, bitches. Don't hate on me, but I *love* me some Justin Bieber. I thought my Belieber status was set in stone when I first heard "Baby," but going to see Never Say Never: Director's Cut in 3D with KCC and my new friend KS has truly cemented my fan status. It was amazing. Seriously. I laughed, I cried, I sang along. It was bomb. I have no shame!
  • Oscars: The ceremony was pretty shitty. Anne and James were meh as far as hosting goes (homeboy was definitely stoned the whole time) and the Kirk Douglas part was uncomfortable as hell. So was the ending with all the children singing. I totally love what that teacher is doing for those kids in Staten Island, but I was creeped out by the whole performance at the end with all of the winners. It didn't seem to make any sense and just felt... awkies.
Anyway, tomorrow I'll talk about the IUD process and hopefully kick off a week full of posts! Yay!

ooo girl, sugar cookies!

Don't ask me about the title, I tried to find the corresponding video and epic failed all over the place, but HI =) I know I haven't been posting lately - I'm not sure why. I'm kind of boring right now and don't really have anything to say, plus I've been crazy exhausted. This week's been pretty good - spent a lot of time with the boy due to Valentine's Day. It was fun - we did a boat cruise around the Bay the day before and then a low-key dinner at his place followed by a massage for the actual day. A good time had by all.

I've fallen off the gym bandwagon, which is sad because I feel like a fat cow. I'm hoping the new Whole Foods that just opened in my area will inspire me to eat better and cook more. My hair is also starting to annoy me and I'm thinking about just putting it in braids or *gasp* a weave for a month to let it grow out. In other words, I am a hot ass mess - lol - but, I'm having fun and I'm generally happy. I've started to become better friends with one of my new colleagues. I'm thinking we'll be really good friends in the future, which is great because she makes work a little less lonely. In other work news, I'm getting to help out with my first event! It's for International Women's Day and I'm stoked because it'll be near the Golden Gate Bridge - gorgeous! It's in March and I can't wait to get to see an event unfold live.

Up on the docket this weekend - a workshop with Tristan Taormino on orgasms! Can I just talk about how much I have *loved* Tristan ever since I saw her on Real Sex as a kid. She is amazing, so I'm looking forward to learning from her and getting to meet her. I may just about have a panic attack and fangirl out when I see her. Other than that, the usual - book club meeting, shopping, etc. Hope everyone's having a good week! =)

look at me! look at me! i'm working out!

You all should be extremely proud of me. Fitness February is in full effect and I'm putting in work at the gym like whoa. Granted, we're only four days in, but I've worked out three days in a row and I'm hoping to put in a quick half-hour after work today. I'm really tired of feeling disgust with my body and really just want to start working out and feeling better about myself. I've never really wanted to be thin, but I just feel super unhealthy. So if I can keep my T&A, but lose some weight around my thighs and stomach, I'd be amazingly happy. I also know that my body responds really quickly and positively to intense working out, so I'm going to give it what it needs.

Although, all this work and fitness has left precious little time for blogging and I have a ton of things I want to catch you all up on. First of all, a relationship update is absolutely necessary, especially since I'm at a crossroads with my boyfriend right now. Secondly, I've been thinking about exes and how to let go. YourTango is holding a Break Up With Your Ex Day and I think it's about time that I purged all of the negative feelings and emotions that have followed me around with ALL of my exes. I'm thinking about a little internet ex bonfire of sorts, which could be interesting. So yeah, I've got plenty of posts in the queue for this weekend!

holy crap! tomorrow is it!

I start my first day on the Events team tomorrow. OMG I'm so nervous I could scream! The boyfriend had to go into work today unexpectedly, so I was able to get a ton of shit done. I have new, cute clothing to reflect the fact that I am no longer working with engineers. It's kind of bittersweet, actually. On the one hand, I relish never again being told that someone would rather have a fork in their eye than help me out. On the other hand, though, I miss the lovable charm of most engineers. Instead, I'm going to be working in the SF office, which I imagine is just as stylish and full of pretty people as the NYC office. Which means I need to step my game up considerably. I have no idea what I'll be doing tomorrow, but I know I won't be on a shuttle for 3 hours, so that's a plus.

I think I'm finally starting to get my life together. I've made a bunch of doctor's appointments to get myself checked up, in addition to finding a therapist and a new psychic. Next on the list is going through the nightmare that is getting an IUD. I've been starting to get crazy paranoid about sex and pregnancy now that I'm getting laid on the regs. This is a long overdue task, but maybe I've finally accepted that I'm in a relationship and I need to be more aggressive about my sexual health. In that vein, I'm also looking into taking some sex ed classes at the SFSI in March and I registered for a sex workshop at Good Vibrations. I feel like a busy little bee again!

Anyhow, I need to cook myself some dinner and get to bed early for work tomorrow! I'm sure I'll have a ton of updates and first impressions for ya'll tomorrow!

that thing called life.

Yes, I have been absolutely horrible about blogging lately. Honestly, I think it's this whole 'leaving my job for a new one' thing. New Years was fun - spent the weekend with my friends and boyfriend up in Sea Ranch, CA. Now I'm back to work and preparing for the fact that next week is my LAST WEEK as an HR Specialist. Starting on Tuesday, January 18th, I will be working on the Marketing Events team! I cannot wait - that day is almost here. Add to that the fact that I only have 5 more days of the wretched commute to the South Bay and I'm ecstatic. I can finally live, work, and play in SF. I couldn't be any happier. Unfortunately, it means next week is going to be banana cakes, with me running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Not my favorite mode of operations, but I'll survive.

Besides work, I think the fact that I've just been so in my own head for the past few weeks is a big part of me not writing. I've been analyzing everything - my relationship, my friendships, my goals for the year. I keep going back and forth with coming to terms with the fact that I'm not a "single girl" anymore. So far, though, everything is all well and good in boyfriend-land. He's like the nicest guy on the planet, super attentive and sweet and always willing to help. I'm also discovering that he's kind of a closet freak - haha - so we get along well in that regard. I just think there's a lot to him and I need to slowly unearth it. Luckily, I have nothing but time to do so. We'll see how it goes.

I had a pretty sweet week, despite the fact that I've been sick as a dog (another reason for not blogging). I sniffled my way through dinner with the boy on Tuesday night. Wednesday, I celebrated the birthday of one of the best roommates ever created - we went to Boulevard in SF (super swanky!) and had ritzy cocktails, scallops and filet mignon and a bottle of red wine. Hilarity ensued, as usually does when the two of us drink together. Last night, I did a Mad Men/gossip session night with MB. I'm so lucky to have her here with me. I miss my other sorority chicks like whoa. We had such an amazing dynamic.

Anyway, this weekend should be fun. The boyfriend wants to spend the weekend together and I told him he could have Friday and Saturday, but not Sunday. Because you know I would cut a bitch if I had to spend a whole weekend with anyone. Tonight we'll probably do movies. Tomorrow is shopping for my outfit to go clubbing for Roomie's big birthday celebration and trying to make up for the fact that my sickness has made me majorly unsexy. I think I want to go buy skanky lingerie and make my boyfriend see the benefits of dating a reformed slut. Hope you all are having a fun weekend! Promise I won't suck so much next week. Well, at blogging at least! ;-)

i'm still here!

Eek! My life is super busy right now because of work and so I'm spending this weekend trying to catch up on my social life. Who knows when I'll actually have time to catch up on my personal shit. I need to start getting some decorations for my apartment, hire a maid (yes, I'm ashamed of this, but it's just necessary given my work schedule), and figure out my travel plans for November. November is basically going to be the most awesome month ever. Work craziness will be over, I'm going to VEGAS, and then I have my Thanksgiving trip to NYC. Super excited! I'm also hoping I can start working out again too since I've been eating crap and gaining weight. Hell month means I don't have time to take care of myself at all. So I'm looking forward to getting some time back.

This weekend has been awesome so far. The girls at work went out for dinner, drinks, and dancing last night. Umm, hilarity! I resisted the advances of one guy, and got felt up by a girl. Seriously - women love me. I'm one bad relationship away from joining the other side, since so many girls seem to wanna get with me. Wish I had the same effect on the boys =) So, after being drunk and ridiculous with cubemate, I stayed over at her hotel and got a ride in from the girls this morning. Tonight, I'm going to Oakland to spend time with The Blexican. He's making me a home-cooked steak dinner (swoon) and we're going to curl up in front of his fireplace and snuggle and watch TV. Um, could that be any more romantic and/or perfect?Needless to say, I'm terrified, but it is nice to have a guy care enough to want to do stuff for you. Still unsure what we're doing tomorrow (I'm spending the night). We were planning on exploring the Bay Area, but the weather has been extremely sucky lately, so God only knows if that plan will hold up.

Anyway, I'll try to be better about updating ya'll on what's going on with me. Wish me luck on my first romantic date!
